Festival Report: Brisbane Seed Festival 2001

"A thoroughly enjoyable evening of music and song..." was one description of last Saturday nights first Winter Seed Festival Concert at Albany Hills Primary School Hall, Brisbane. The concert is part of a series of gospel events being conducted throughout 2001. The Winter Concerts are taking place over two weekends, with the second evening scheduled for this Saturday the 9th of June at 7.00pm. Popular gospel band The Shekels will again be featured, along with a variety of other groups and soloists. The Shekels have released a compilation CD of previously recorded material from two award winning albums, and will play some of their most requested songs along with some new ones.

"I think what people really enjoy about this concert series, apart from the quality of the music, is the fact that those up on stage are totally real, have something meaningful to say, and have personally found an experience worth singing about," says program coordinator Peter Nahuysen.

"Many of them are young people, and you can just see on their faces that they're full of life and hope. It's hard to explain to those who haven't been to a concert yet or experienced it for themselves. These evenings are a greet night out for the whole family, or for anyone looking for a genuine gospel message."
